BBC receives 250 severe complaints each six months, chief reveals

BBC Director-General Tim Davie has revealed that the BBC receives roughly 250 severe complaints each six months. 

The company chief revealed the quantity throughout an interview this afternoon, his first since allegations have been made towards an unnamed presenter final week.

Speaking to journalists, Mr Davie began the interview saying the BBC was “balancing serious allegations, duty of care, privacy and public interest”.

He then disclosed the variety of complaints the company receives over six months, and detailed the occasions for the reason that allegations have been made public final week.

He prompt that the BBC may have to take a look at its protocol for investigating complaints, stating that, as director-general, he wished to see if the company raises “red flags quick enough”.

He mentioned: “There may be lessons from this. The case has always been kept open.”
