Coxon has released his ninth album with Blur, called The Ballad Of Darren.

The star, however, deals very differently with his mental health by “staying sober”.

Coxon reportedly said: “There’s a phrase in Alcoholics Anonymous [AA], ‘The gift of desperation’, about needing fairly than eager to develop into sober. In 2017, I assume I used to be determined.”

Commenting on his last relapse, which occurred six years ago, Coxon said: “That relapse was sufficient for my anxiousness to essentially hassle me.

“I got in touch with someone I knew I could talk to about addiction and I had a determination to get on with it.”

Coxon instructed Express.co.uk, in January 2023: “I don’t want to bang on about AA’s 12-step programme to get sober, but it’s worked for me and for a lot of other people.

“Staying sober is a piece in progress always, involving self-reflection and self-evaluation, just about every single day.”
