Father points warning as boy airlifted to hospital after swallowing battery

Slightly boy has been airlifted to hospital after he swallowed a button battery leaving the poor boy’s grandmother to difficulty an pressing warning to the mother and father. Ryan Taylor stated his son Kaiden was enjoying with a distant controller at his nan’s home on Saturday, July 22, when he by accident swallowed a button battery. 

The four-year-old’s nan instantly observed the battery was lacking and rushed the little boy to a neighborhood hospital on the Isle of Man.

After ready for a couple of hours in A&E and an X-ray, Kaiden was flown to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital because the battery was caught in his oesophagus.

Doctors determined to function on him inside half-hour of arriving.

His father, Ryan, 27, was on vacation on the time of the incident and instantly travelled to Alder Hey to satisfy his son.

Speaking to the ECHO, Ryan stated: “When he got here, they took him to theatre within half an hour and rushed him down. 

“They advised me beforehand he may have problems the place it may trigger catastrophic bleeding as a result of the place it was caught there was a variety of blood vessels round it and it’s the place the center is as effectively.

“So there are a lot of blood vessels pumping blood in the heart and things like that. There was also a main artery around that area.”

Ryan stated the scenario was “terrifying” and he “didn’t know what the outcome would be”.

Doctors had been efficiently in a position to take away the battery and Kaiden was admitted to the important care unit. 

The household was advised as a result of injury and the alkalinity which had leaked from the battery, Kaiden must keep in hospital for no less than three weeks.

Ryan advised the ECHO: “Within three hours it had done a lot of damage. It was only so, so far away of going through the oesophagus and into his blood vessels and main artery.”

He now desires to warn different mother and father on the hazards of button batteries, he stated: “These batteries come in remote controls, toys, cards, birthday cards. 

“If this occurs to anybody, do not waste any time, get them straight to A&E or a medical centre as quickly as potential.

“Make sure the batteries are secure in remotes, in toys, and keep them out of reach of children. Once they are swallowed it reacts straight away.”
