Antiques Roadshow skilled felt ‘scared’ following life-threatening prognosis
Antiques Roadshow skilled Theo Burrell acquired a grade 4 mind tumour prognosis following unhealthy bouts of complications.
While profitable surgical procedure saved her life, Theo stated: “It’s hard not to feel angry about the whole experience.
“Brain tumours are so underfunded, and so they have such a poor prognosis. Brain cancer appears to be a number of steps forward of us, it’s outsmarting us.”
Back in December 2021, the senior specialist in furniture and decorative arts started suffering from migraines.
Her migraines became so debilitating that Theo, from East Lothian, Scotland, was unable to bend down or lie down during the attacks.
Numerous trips to the doctor’s clinic didn’t result in any answers until a revealing scan did.
It was during another painful attack when Theo sought medical help from the A&E department at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on June 7, 2022.
“When I used to be informed my migraines had been in truth mind most cancers, I used to be actually shocked and scared,” Theo shared.
“I used to be placed on steroids to scale back the swelling on my mind, and this led to me regaining my urge for food.”
Theo added: “I used to be additionally given morphine which meant I wasn’t in ache for the primary time in months.
“Physically, I was feeling better but mentally, I was all over the place.”
While Theo’s surgical procedure was profitable, there may be restricted remedies obtainable to those that develop a mind tumour.
Leading charity Brain Tumour Research is now calling on the UK authorities to ring-fence £110million of funding to spend money on additional analysis on the situation.
Theo acknowledged: “So many young people get brain tumours, so we need to care for the next generation.”
Glioblastoma
The charity explains glioblastoma is the “most common high grade primary brain tumour in adults”.
Symptoms of the mind tumour embody:
- Headaches, attributable to strain within the mind

- Trouble talking or understanding
- Tiredness
- Depression
- Trouble considering
- Seizures
- Sight issues.
