Boulter avoids Djokovic-style US Open disqualification earlier than progressing

“I am super happy with today,” stated the British No.1. “I’m very, very pleased with myself. I needed to dig actually deep. I had a couple of set factors within the first set which I wasn’t capable of convert.

“She played some really good tennis and I had to really battle and go for it at the same time. Credit to her. She is a great player and doesn’t make it easy. I managed to get over the line so I am extremely happy.

“I am pleased with my resilience. I think tactically I was trying to be very aggressive and I think I got a little bit tight in the first set and I wasn’t quite as loose as I wanted to be and I bounced back in the second set and managed to loosen up and find ways to win points that I wasn’t doing fully in the first set and it made it a little bit easier for me.”
