FCA warns banks they are going to ‘act’ if politicians are wrongly denied companies

n govt on the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) stated the watchdog will “act” if monetary establishments wrongly deny politicians or their households entry to companies.
Writing within the Telegraph, FCA govt director Sarah Pritchard stated they’re reviewing whether or not monetary establishments are being “proportionate” of their threat assessments of politically uncovered individuals (PEPs).

In late June, former chief of the UK Independence Party Nigel Farage had his Coutts financial institution accounts closed and stated he was refused accounts with different banks because of his political beliefs.
This resulted in Dame Alison Rose, the CEO of NatWest, the corporate that owns Coutts, stepping down from her function.

Ms Pritchard added that the goals of the evaluation are to maintain the “system clean” however not deny PEPs the entry to monetary merchandise and “services necessary for everyday life”.
