B&Q apologises after books titled ‘White Supremacy’ seem in product itemizing

DIY retailer B&Q has apologised after two books titled “White Supremacy” had been included in a product itemizing {photograph} on its web site.

The books featured in a list for a wood radiator cowl.

B&Q has apologised and stated the product was supplied by a third-party vendor which it has now suspended.

The DIY retailer has additionally eliminated the itemizing from its web site.

The picture sparked a backlash on social media after it emerged.

One person on X, the web site previously often known as Twitter, wrote: “Uhhh B&Q can you explain why you have a product picture featuring two books that say ‘white supremacy’????”

Another, referred to as Esheru, wrote: “Who are you attempting to child @BandQ? Deeply apologetic actually would not minimize it!

“How was this actually missed? I am certain that this went through several departments/teams and dept heads before being signed off.

“I for one will take my enterprise elsewhere.”

A B&Q spokesperson advised Sky News: “We deeply apologise for the offence this may have caused from a product that was offered for sale by a third-party seller.

“B&Q is dedicated to creating an inclusive place for our colleagues to work and our clients to buy, and on this occasion, this product was not picked up by our screening course of.

“We can confirm we suspended the seller and removed the product, and all images associated with it, from diy.com as soon as we became aware of the content.

“We are actively reviewing our screening course of to stop this occurring once more, as we’re dedicated to sustaining a respectful and inclusive on-line atmosphere.”
