Wilko retailer closures: Full checklist as 52 doomed areas revealed after rescue bid fails
The areas of 52 Wilko shops that can shut after failing to safe a rescue deal have been revealed by directors.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which was appointed to supervise the insolvency final month, stated it stays in talks with events taken with shopping for the remaining parts of the business.
On Tuesday, rival retailer B&M bought up to 51 other Wilko stores in a deal value as much as £13m.
Administrators added “it is possible that further store closures may regrettably be necessary”, relying on talks with remaining suitors.
Team members working on the shops affected shall be made redundant.
Edward Williams, joint administrator, stated: “In the absence of viable offers for the whole business, very sadly store closures and redundancies of team members from those stores are now necessary.
“The lack of these shops shall be felt not solely by the crew members who served them with such dedication, together with by the uncertainty of latest weeks, but in addition the communities which they’ve been part of.”
