Dua Lipa going through recent copyright lawsuit over hit track Levitating

Pop star Dua Lipa is being sued over claims she was by no means given permission to incorporate a musician’s “talk box” recording in her mega-hit Levitating.

Music producer Bosko Kante claims three remixes of the British singer’s monitor featured his recording which infringed his copyright.

He believes he’s entitled to greater than $20m (£15.7m) in revenue from the tracks and has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles.

Kante cites an alleged spoken settlement that solely the part of the recording he created together with his smartwatch could possibly be used within the track’s authentic recording.

He says he created the ElectroSpit Talk Box – a tool worn across the neck and linked to a cellphone or synthesiser that may flip vocal vibrations into instrument-like noises.

On his web site, Kante states he has performed the Talk Box on tracks by the likes of Kanye West and rapper J Cole.

Music producer Stephen Kozmeniuk approached Kante in 2019 about making a Talk Box monitor for Levitating, the lawsuit says.

It provides they verbally agreed to a licence stipulating that the recording may solely be used on the unique track and never on remixes.

Kante alleges Lipa reused his work with out permission on remixes by DJ The Blessed Madonna, one with rapper DaBaby and one other that Lipa carried out stay.

Third lawsuit over Levitating

Kante’s case is the third such lawsuit introduced in opposition to Lipa and her monitor Levitating.

Artikal Sound System, a reggae band in Florida, introduced a lawsuit in opposition to the singer in March 2022, alleging the track copied the hook of their 2017 monitor Live Your Life.

The case was dismissed in June.

In one other case which is ongoing, songwriters L Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer allege Lipa used their melody from the 1979 sing Wiggle And Giggle All Night.

Levitating was a high 5 hit within the UK and have become the longest-charting track by a feminine artist on the Billboard Hot 100 within the US, spending a complete of 77 weeks on the chart

Lipa is at the moment racing up the charts with her track from the Barbie movie, Dance The Night.

Sky News has approached the singer’s spokesperson for remark.
