Wrexham homeowners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney put money into Formula One group in newest sporting enterprise
Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are investing in a Formula One group of their newest sporting enterprise.
The Deadpool star, together with enterprise accomplice and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia co-creator and actor Rob McElhenney, each 46, noticed Wrexham AFC promoted to the Football League following a 15-year absence after taking on the Welsh soccer membership in 2021.
The pair have now grow to be a part of a $200m (£157m) funding in Alpine Racing, it was introduced on Monday.
Reynolds’ Maximum Effort manufacturing firm has teamed up with Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners, whereas Black Panther star Michael B Jordan can be among the many buyers.
The funding represents a 24% stake in Alpine, which completed fourth within the F1 constructors’ championship final 12 months and presently sits fifth within the rankings after eight races of the 2023 season.
The news was introduced by the group’s dad or mum firm Renault, and James Toney, who co-founded Maximum Effort Investments with Reynolds.

Alpine, which has a manufacturing unit in Enstone, Oxfordshire, received the F1 constructors’ world championships in 2005 and 2006 when it competed as Renault’s works group and in addition as Benetton in 1995.
Since the Renault group was rebranded as Alpine in 2021, it has achieved one victory and three podium finishes, with French racing driver Esteban Ocon coming third within the Monaco Grand Prix this season.
