Boris Johnson ally Nigel Adams has mentioned he’s standing down as an MP with “immediate effect”, triggering one other by-election.

The transfer, which follows the previous prime minister’s resignation on Friday, will go away Prime Minister Rishi Sunak going through a 3rd by-election – this time in Mr Adams’s Selby and Ainsty constituency.
