Starmer humiliated as PM factors out escapes below Labour have been 10 occasions larger
Rishi Sunak left Sir Keir Starmer humiliated at Prime Minister’s Questions this lunchtime, after revealing jail escapes have been ten occasions larger below the final Labour Government.
The pair tussled over the escape of Daniel Khalife, with Sir Keir Starmer demanding to know why he had not been held in a Category A jail regardless of his terrorism cost.
An exasperated Mr Sunak stated he ‘should not have to clarify’ to Sir Keir – a former Director of Public Prosecutions – that not all terrorism prisoners are stored in Category A prisons.
He added: “The Honourable Member, with his background, should know better.
“It isn’t, and has by no means been, coverage that individuals charged below the act have all been stored in Category A prisons. This should not want explaining.”
Mr Sunak then dropped the bombshell that prison escapes were “almost 10 occasions larger” below the final Labour authorities than the Conservatives.
