‘Trans bigots trying to shut down free speech’
Tory MP Nick Fletcher mentioned: “Much of the gender ideology criticism has come from women who are rightly concerned about its impact on women’s rights and child safeguarding. But the harms go much further.
“Ideologues seek to shut down free speech and to undermine basic science and even our understanding of reality.
“This IEA paper is a much-needed wake-up call to libertarians and conservatives who have not yet engaged with
this subject.”
Labour chief Sir Keir Starmer has mentioned he needs to spice up hate crime laws to ensure “every LGBT+ crime is treated as an aggravated offence”.
But Labour MP Graham Stringer quoted Lewis Carroll’s well-known Through The Looking Glass Humpty Dumpty assertion: “When I use a word…it means just what I chose it to mean – neither more nor less,” to sound his warning.
Mr Stringer added: “Men become women and women become men via a simple declaration. Of course, as Humpty Dumpty realised, if words can have any meaning, debate becomes meaningless.
“Analytical criticism becomes irrelevant and you end up with authoritarianism, which is what the transgender ideologues desire with, of course, them in authority.”
Report writer Marc Glendening mentioned threatening individuals’s freedom to precise opinions on trans points “is undermining the ability to have sensible and necessary debates on controversial topics”.
The Daily Express has highlighted the difficulty with our Protect Women’s Rights campaign.
It is backed by Labour MP Rosie Duffield and Conservative Miriam Cates, who say extremist trans activists should not be allowed to wipe away a century of hard-won protections.
