Erik ten Hag warned about Sir Jim Ratcliffe as Rio Ferdinand provides sack verdict
Rio Ferdinand believes that Sir Jim Ratcliffe won’t be afraid to make a ‘large choice’ relating to deciding the way forward for Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils have made little progress underneath the Dutchman’s steerage regardless of spending over £400million within the switch market since his arrival two years in the past.
United’s season went from dangerous to worse on Saturday, once they have been humbled at house by Fulham to pile additional stress on Ten Hag’s shoulders. Speaking on Vibe with Five, Ferdinand recommended that ‘lots of shifting elements’ might want to fall into place for Ten Hag to remain at Old Trafford for one more season, with Ratcliffe unlikely to stress about wielding the axe if he feels it’s warranted.
Asked if he expects Ten Hag to be sacked on the finish of the season, Ferdinand mentioned: “It depends. If he runs it close and we see an upturn in form, an upturn in the environment at the training ground and they can see what it looks like going into next season if we add the right pieces to it as well.
“Given the construction behind him now, lots of shifting elements should fall into place for him to remain. If they do not end the season properly and they’re shedding video games and it appears just like the dressing room ain’t a harmonious place…
“One thing I would say is that I don’t think Jim Ratcliffe and his team are shy of making big decisions. It won’t be a big thing for them if they have to intervene. I don’t think they’ll look at it and go: ‘We’ve got to work out the media and the PR’. What’s right for United now, they will do.”
Ferdinand went on to query the concept of accidents holding United again, insisting that Ten Hag’s failure to implement a transparent enjoying type is the principle challenge.
“That’s one concern,” he defined. “What are we? I don’t know what we are. I spoke to the manager at Galatasaray and he said: ‘We’ve had a lot of injuries so it’s difficult to implement the tactical side of things and have a regular way of playing’. I don’t know, man.
“I simply suppose for those who coach a workforce, you are not simply teaching the primary 11, you are teaching everybody within the squad. When they arrive in, they need to know their roles and obligations to implement a sure manner of enjoying. United simply haven’t got a method of play in the intervening time the place you go: ‘That is them’.”
