Van de Ven on first Postecoglou chat and Tottenham trophy hopes
The centre-back earlier in August moved to the Premier League from Wolfsburg in a deal price round £43million, and has instantly established himself as first-choice alongside vice-captain Cristian Romero.
Spurs have began the season nicely, exhibiting tantalising attacking menace in a draw away at Brentford and a house victory over Manchester United, and Van de Van says Postecoglou’s private method and tactical type of play satisfied him to hitch.
“I spoke with the manager, I think that’s the most important part to make your decision,” he instructed talkSPORT. “Of course you can talk with people from the club like the director, but he’s not going to train you on the pitch, it’s the trainer who has to make you better.
“You have to like his type of play, how he needs to play, you need to find it irresistible, as a result of if you do not get the vibe, the sensation, the system I need to play, then it isn’t going to work. So I talked with the coach and every little thing within the assembly went nicely and I like the best way of enjoying, in order that made a very enormous resolution for me to go to Tottenham.”
He added: “He’s a beautiful man. He is so good for all of us, he is quiet, however he is straight in with what he needs. He is evident, every little thing is evident for everybody within the dressing room and everybody within the group is aware of what he has to do and what he’s anticipating from us.
“He’s a sweet guy – a lovely guy – but he’s straight and he knows what he wants to be and what he expects from us in his way of playing. He has a good vibe with everyone, he has a good relationship with everyone and I think all of the team loves him and we feel like one family and I think that’s really important.”
Postecoglou arrived at Spurs from Celtic, spending three years in Scotland and successful eight trophies together with his ultimate match wrapping up a exceptional Treble.
Van de Ven believes Postecoglou may replicate his trophy haul in north London, including: “That’s a possibility.
“I feel how we play now, each participant within the group loves the best way of enjoying below him, the best way he thinks about soccer. We really feel one another and we all know what he needs and we all know what he expects from us.
“So we do what he wants, and I think he also looks at how we think about it, so it’s not only from one way, but from both ways, and I think that will help the team and the manager also to develop everyone.”
