Alcaraz has ‘too many pictures’ as Evans highlights chaos of going through US Open rival

Dan Evans has claimed Carlos Alcaraz has “too many shots” and the Spaniard generally helps his opponent by selecting the fallacious choice.

The British No.2 admitted he loved pitting his wits with the world No.1 during an entertaining third round defeat at the US Open.

The Spaniard mixed blistering floor strokes with a deft contact across the web to win 6-2 6-3 4-6 6-3 in the principle Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Asked the Wimbledon champion’s greatest power, No.26 seed Evans mentioned: “For me, it’s how heavy he hits the ball. Quite a lot of people hit the ball quite heavy compared to me to my backhand, but it feels heavy. I think it’s very difficult to get the ball by him.

And his variation. I definitely didn’t know what was coming next and that sort of sets you on the backfoot and, and is difficult to anticipate.

“He obviously backs you up and then can play the drop shot, can hit it through you, can come in. If anything, he probably plays too many shots. He would let me out of jail a few times playing the wrong shot, which was good for me but once he’s on a different day, if he’s putting it all together, it is difficult to stop.”

The third spherical tie was performed in spirit with the 2 gamers buying and selling laughs and smiles in addition to lung-busting rallies.

“I enjoyed myself out there,” mentioned Evans. “The result wasn’t enjoyable but you don’t have to be miserable all the time on the  court. The tennis was good, it was a great atmosphere.

“I imagine there were some pretty famous people in the crowd which is a cool thing to be part of although to lose still frustrating.”

On a protracted spotlight reel of gorgeous pictures, Alcaraz produced an unbelievable working forehand move which clipped the baseline break to steer 4-2 within the fourth set. Gobsmacked Evans threw his racquet into the online in disbelief..
