The Serb defeated Norwegian Casper Ruud at Roland Garros to win his twenty third main title, overtaking Rafael Nadal. Djokovic is now the red-hot favorite to say a twenty fourth slam at Wimbledon later this summer season. 

Murray, who has twice been triumphant at Wimbledon and has gained the US Open, believes every time considered one of Djokovic, Nadal or Federer gained a serious, it makes his personal accomplishments look even higher. The 35-year-old has performed in an period dominated by three of the best gamers of all-time. 

A victory at Surbiton on Sunday gave Murray his first trophy on grass in seven years. He spoke concerning the successes of Djokovic, Nadal and Federer within the aftermath, and the way he places his personal accomplishments into perspective. 

“I know how difficult it is to win a Slam so for these guys (Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer) to win 23, 22 and 20 it’s ridiculous,” Murray stated. 

“Sometimes I watch them playing matches and I’m like ‘wow, I can’t believe I used to win and compete against them in the biggest matches in the biggest tournaments’.

“In 30 years’ time people, who maybe don’t follow tennis that much, will look back and say to me, ‘you won only three Grand Slams’. But each major that these guys win makes the accomplishments that I’ve had against them, and tournaments that I’ve won against them, greater.

“I certainly didn’t win all my matches against them but I won my fair few. I’m proud of what I achieved in what, without question, is the best era of men’s tennis by miles.”

Murray had chosen to play at Surbiton to arrange for Wimbledon. The former World No 1 eased previous Jurij Rodionov in Sunday’s last, profitable 6-3 6-2. 

He added: “I’ve chosen to come back and play right here, and in Nottingham [next week] to hopefully get a number of matches below my belt – so this week has been the right begin. 

“My youngsters are at all times asking me once I go away if I’m going to come back house with a trophy – and it’s been uncommon over the previous few years. They truly got here two minutes earlier than the rain began and my spouse needed to take them again house, so that they missed the tip of the match. But I believe they watched it on TV – so Sophia, Edie, Teddy and Lola, I’ll carry you all a trophy tonight.”
