But I am sure they would be happier being at home rather than sitting in a crèche in a player lounge.”

It comes after Murray admitted that his kids weren’t too taken with watching him play, and that instead were focused on going to McDonald’s after the final. He stated: “After I had kids, I was motivated to keep playing so they could watch me when I was older, but they are not really that interested!”

“I thought they might be but they are not. It is really nice for them to come, I have loved having them come and watch today, but I realise for them, they are more interested in other things.

“But it was still nice because they have not been to Wimbledon, they came to Queen’s when I played doubles there, but they have not been around it at all. They are more interested in when we are going to McDonalds after the match.”

After two title wins on the second-tier Challenger Tour, Murray will bid for an eleventh consecutive win on grass in opposition to world No 18 Alex de Minaur within the first spherical of the cinch Championships on the Queen’s Club tomorrow.
