Novak Djokovic makes instant Wimbledon vow and shares French Open celebrations

The Serbian celebrity advised France 2: “I have a lot of relief now. I am very proud, very happy to do that in front of the most important people in my life. Maybe tomorrow I will be able to analyse it more.

“Now I want to win Wimbledon. Before Wimbledon I am going to celebrate with my team and family. I am very motivated to continue and make history. I am not finished in my career.”

Asked concerning the significance of his third French Open, Djokovic added: “Maybe it is the most important moment in my career. It is in the top one or two. The first time I won a Grand Slam in Australian in 2008 – the first time is always special. And the first time I won Wimbledon (2011) and became world No.1 and today. These are the most beautiful moments of my career.”

The 36-year-old additionally defined how a lot it meant to him to interrupt the boys’s singles Grand Slam document on the French Open. Speaking on Eurosport, he mentioned: “I can’t be more proud and more thankful that I managed to win Roland Garros that came as a historic 23. And Roland Garros has always been the toughest tournament for me to win out of all four Slams.”

Reflecting on his robust matches in Paris, Djokovic added: “I failed several times at the last step, mostly against Rafa [Nadal] or against Stan [Wawrinka] in the finals and 2016 was one of the greatest moments I’ve experienced on the court – winning here.

“And then 2021 and then this year. I don’t know what to expect when I play on clay to be honest, but in [the] French I always feel more comfortable than any other clay tournament and I’m just super overwhelmed with the positive emotions.”
