Wimbledon is upping its safety this yr after Just Stop Oil protestors gatecrashed the ashes earlier this week. The Army are below strict orders to intervene if protesters intrude on courtroom whereas gamers have been instructed ‘to not do a Jonny Bairstow’ after the England wicketkeeper tackled a protestor as they took to the sector of play.

“The safety and security of all our players, colleagues and visitors is paramount,” stated Michelle Dite, operations supervisor for the All England Club, in a press release.

“Based on what has happened at other sporting events, and on the advice from our key partners, we have reviewed our security plans. We have plans in place to mitigate the risks working in partnership with specialist agencies and the Metropolitan Police and should an incident occur the appropriate specialist teams will respond.”
