New octopus species found by scientists in uncommon ‘nursery’ off Costa Rican coast

A brand new species of octopus has been present in a deep-sea nursery off the coast of Costa Rica.

Scientists say each the invention of the brand new species of Muusoctopus, a genus of small to medium sized octopus with out an ink sac, and the nursery are notable.

The uncommon brooding website – at 2,800m beneath sea stage – is barely the third recognized octopus nursery on the planet.

The Dorado Outcrop nursery, in a chilly hydrothermal vent off the coast of Puntarenas, was initially situated in 2013 by scientists who discovered 100 feminine octopuses brooding their eggs.
