Caroline Glachan homicide trial: Man ‘seen killing schoolgirl and later confessed to relations’, courtroom informed

A heroin addict confessed to murdering a 14-year-old woman to 2 relations whereas his ex informed police she witnessed it, a courtroom has heard.

Three separate witnesses named George Graham – who’s now lifeless – as being chargeable for Caroline Glachan’s loss of life in 1996.

Donna Marie Brand, 44, Robert O’Brien, 45, and Andrew Kelly, 44, are on trial on the High Court in Glasgow and deny murdering the schoolgirl on 25 August 1996 in West Dunbartonshire.

Her physique was discovered within the River Leven on that date.

One of the witnesses was Mr Graham’s girlfriend on the time, who stated in an announcement in 2002 that she witnessed the alleged homicide.

Jean McIntyre, who can also be now lifeless, stated she stayed quiet for six years as a result of she was “scared”.

She claimed she was at a celebration at Caroline’s mom’s home to gather her teenage son and had organized to satisfy Mr Graham, who she known as Geordie, later.

In an announcement given to police, Ms McIntyre stated she informed Mr Graham to “go first” as she did not need her son to see her.

While she adopted Mr Graham, he was stated to be strolling behind Caroline, who was “meeting her new man at Bonhill Bridge”.

Ms McIntyre stated: “Geordie was wearing a hooded top. I never shouted at Geordie because I didn’t want Caroline to know I was going with Geordie.

“Geordie was at this stage very near her, he then grabbed her from behind.”

She described him picking up an implement, and said: “He then hit her on the again of the top, it was greater than as soon as.

“Caroline didn’t even scream, she never had a chance. He then put her head in the water, her arms were moving.”

The assertion stated Mr Graham informed her to “shut her gob or she’d get the same”, and she or he ran previous Bonhill Bridge.

She stated: “I never phoned [the] police because I was scared. I have seen Geordie since this has happened and he said to me ‘I hope you haven’t opened your mouth’.”

Ms McIntyre claimed the alleged incident made her begin ingesting.

The courtroom additionally heard a witness assertion from Mr Graham’s teenage cousin, who commonly used heroin with him and was buddies with Caroline,

Margaret Connolly, 16, informed police in December 1997 that Mr Graham confessed to killing Caroline whereas the pair mentioned the homicide as they watched TV.

She stated in her assertion: “He definitely said ‘it was me’, he then said ‘no, I’m only kidding on’.

“Then he seemed me straight within the eyes and stated ‘nevertheless it was me’. I felt as if somebody had winded me.

“I don’t know if he was joking or serious, but you don’t joke about things like that, especially as she was one of my best mates.”

Ms Connolly’s aunty, Mary Rose Connolly, had taken in Mr Graham after his mom kicked him out.

She has since died, however in an announcement earlier given to police, she stated: “He told me he had murdered Caroline. He told me he had hit her with a baseball bat and held her head underwater.”

Ms Connolly stated she threw him out of her home two days later.

The statements have been learn out to the courtroom through the defence case.
