Baby killed and man in severe situation after Swansea home hearth

A toddler has died in a home hearth in Swansea, police have confirmed.

South Wales Police stated the kid died following the blaze at a property within the West Cross space of town on Saturday afternoon.

Detective Inspector Carl Price stated: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the child who has tragically died at a house fire in West Cross, Swansea.

“Of the three others who have been in the home on the time, one baby and a girl suffered smoke inhalation, and one man is in a severe situation in Morriston Hospital.

“An investigation is being carried out to determine the precise circumstances of the fireplace.

“We wish to thank members of the community who helped at the scene and those who have come forward with information.”

The reason for the fireplace, which was contained to at least one property, is unknown at this stage and a joint investigation is being carried out by police and the fireplace service.

The area people are thanked for his or her endurance and understanding through the street closures.
