Epsom racecourse protester dragged away by police

Two protesters have been arrested whereas making an attempt to disrupt the Epsom Derby. One man managed to leap a fence earlier than being tackled and handcuffed by police on the racecourse as the group jeered and booed.

Seconds later a lady tried to climb the fence onto the course, however was pulled to the bottom by law enforcement officials.

Despite pledges by activist group Animal Rising to “cancel or severely delay” the Derby, the race continued as deliberate simply after the protesters have been carried away.

Observers described the scenario as “ludicrous” and “absolute insanity” whereas others thanked the police for placing a cease to the protests.

Surrey Police mentioned earlier on Saturday that 19 folks have been arrested in reference to plans to disrupt the Epsom Derby Festival.

She mentioned: “As long as there are industries where animals are being harmed like the horse racing industry, like when animals are exploited for food, for entertainment, for sports, there will be people who are willing to step in and use their bodies to put themselves between harm and the animals.”

Speaking afterwards, she described the arrests on Saturday morning as “police over-reach”, including: “I do think it’s heavy-handed. These are peaceful protests.

“If I needed to bounce over a fence to guard an animal from hurt, I might do this. What occurred in the present day with the 19 folks arrested is an over-reach and an abuse of their energy.”
