Fire engulfs Tube station as 40 firefighters rush there

Flames hovering metres into the air had been seen in the present day as a fire engulfed a London Underground station. Highgate Tube Station was closed down quickly after an enormous hearth unfold by means of a derelict constructing on Archway Road in North London. Half of the primary ground of the constructing was charred by the blaze which is now underneath management, reported London Fire Brigade.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was known as at 3pm, with pictures on-line displaying the huge flames and black smoke towering over a close-by street.

A spokesman stated: “The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers received 25 calls about the incident.

“The Brigade was known as at 1501 and the hearth underneath management was underneath management at 1613. Fire crews from Hornsey, Kentish Town, Holloway, West Hampstead and Finchley attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

In a Twitter submit, the LFB confirmed: “Highgate Underground Station is temporarily closed and people are asked to avoid the area if possible.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called at 3.08pm today (2 May) to reports of a fire at Highgate Underground Station, N6.

“We have despatched a lot of sources to the scene, together with an ambulance crew, a medic in a quick response automotive, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous space response workforce (HART).”

There were six fire engines and 40 firefighters tackling the blaze today, which is now under control.
