Giant billboards that includes an OnlyFans mannequin carrying a bra have been cleared by the UK’s promoting watchdog following a string of complaints.

The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) stated as a result of the billboards weren’t “overtly sexual” and “did not objectify women” they had been “unlikely” to offend.

It comes after the adverts, which featured a picture of mannequin Eliza Rose Watson and particulars of her OnlyFans account, appeared in 4 areas throughout London in June and July.

One billboard used was situated round 450m from a college.

They prompted 30 complaints to the ASA – with these behind the complaints describing the image as inappropriate for show the place youngsters may see.

However, the ASA dominated that whereas Watson’s clothes was revealing, the picture didn’t characteristic any nudity, and the pose adopted by her was “no more than mildly sexual”.

“While we acknowledged that the image of Ms Watson and reference to OnlyFans might be distasteful to some, we considered that because the ad was not overtly sexual and did not objectify women, we therefore concluded it was unlikely to cause serious or widespread offence,” an ASA spokesperson stated.

“The ad was shown on several posters throughout London, which was an untargeted medium, and was therefore likely to be seen by a large number of people, including children.

“However, as a result of we thought-about the advert was not overtly sexual and didn’t objectify girls, we subsequently concluded the advert was unlikely to trigger severe or widespread offence and had not been positioned irresponsibly.”

The ASA dominated no additional motion was obligatory.

The proprietor of the poster websites, Amplify Outdoor, stated not one of the advertisements had been displayed inside 100m of a college – with the closest being 450m.

The billboards, in Bruce Grove in Tottenham, Norwood High Street in Lambeth, and Deansbrook Road in Edgware, had been later taken over by environmental campaigners Global Witness.

The activists changed the picture with one among their “OilyFans” adverts – a tongue-in-cheek touch upon the pay bundle of BP chief government Bernard Looney, whose earnings went from £4.5m to £10m final 12 months.

Watson, who’s from Dorset, final month informed The Sun she earned round £200,000-a-month from promoting express photos on OnlyFans – an adults-only web site which permits folks to purchase and promote express materials.

The 34-year-old informed the paper she spent round £18,000 on her promoting marketing campaign, which included the 4 UK billboards and two in New York’s Times Square.

Commenting on the response to the billboards, she stated: “If people are offended by my ad, I’m assuming they’re also complaining about Ann Summers and Jack Daniels ones.

“You see advertisements for playing, alcohol, intercourse toys, lingerie, there isn’t a distinction between that sort of adult-oriented advert and my adult-oriented advert.

“This is a real business, if a gambling or alcohol company can run their ads, which have far more devastating impacts, why not me?”
