Just Stop Oil protesters invade pitch and throw orange powder at Twickenham rugby last

Just Stop Oil protesters have been arrested after invading the pitch on the English Premiership Rugby last and threw orange paint powder on the sector.

The protest meant the match between Saracens and Sale at Twickenham was stopped for round 5 minutes.

Two male Just Stop Oil demonstrators, who’re calling on the federal government to halt new fossil gas licensing and manufacturing, ran on to the pitch quarter-hour into the sport towards a refrain of boos from the gang.

Stewards eliminated them from the pitch, with one tackling a protester to the delight of spectators.

Orange powder remained on the sector because the match resumed.

The Met Police has mentioned two males have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and prison injury after the pitch invasion. They have been taken into custody.

GP says protest ‘my responsibility as a physician’

A press release from Just Stop Oil mentioned the lads concerned within the protest have been Dr Patrick Hart, 37, a GP from Bristol, and Sam Johnson, 40, a development employee from Essex.

Dr Hart mentioned in a press release launched by Just Stop Oil: “I’m doing this as a result of it is my responsibility as a physician.

“The climate crisis is the greatest health crisis humanity has ever faced.

“People are dying now and extra will die day-after-day except we cease new oil, fuel and coal.”

Mr Johnson added: “I took motion at the moment just because we now have run out of time.

“We’ve got to tackle this now. We have known for longer than I’ve been alive what would happen if we kept burning fossils fuels and now we are seeing this catastrophe unfold in real time.

“The complete world is aware of that licensing new fossil gas initiatives in 2023 will trigger the deaths of tens of millions of individuals.”

A press release from Twickenham Stadium learn: “Twickenham Stadium can confirm two people have been arrested and this is now a police matter.

“We wish to thank our stewarding workforce who acted decisively and swiftly.”

Recent spate of Just Stop Oil motion

It comes days after Just Stop Oil protesters chucked orange powder paint over a garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in London.

Three folks have been arrested on suspicion of prison injury in relation to the incident, Metropolitan Police mentioned.

In April, a Just Stop Oil demonstrator launched orange powder on to a snooker table on the world championships.

Since the marketing campaign launched on 14 February 2022, there have been over 2,100 associated arrests and 138 folks have frolicked in jail, the group has mentioned.

Two of the group’s supporters, Morgan Trowland and Marcus Decker, are serving three-year jail sentences over a protest that the closed the Dartford Crossing for 2 days final October.
