A search is underway for a knifeman who stabbed a pensioner to dying in Sheffield. The man, who was in his 70s, was discovered with stab wounds to his chest off Shortbrook Close, Westfield.

Local police had been known as to the scene simply earlier than 11pm on August 9 and say they’ve detectives “working around the clock”.

No arrests have been made as of but, however police say “extensive” enquiries are underway.

Detective Superintendent, Nikki Leach, from the Sheffield command group mentioned: “We know that those in the local community, and more widely in Sheffield, will be really shaken and concerned by this incident yesterday evening.”

She mentioned: “I want to reassure the public that we have detectives from across the force working around the clock on this case to piece together the circumstances of what happened which led to a man being stabbed and very sadly losing his life.”

South Yorkshire Police had been known as to an space of parkland off Shortbrook Close in Westfield, Sheffield simply earlier than 11pm. Officers attended together with the ambulance service however the man was pronounced useless on the scene.

Were you walking or driving through the area and did you see something unusual? Did you walk your dog through the parkland earlier that evening and see someone acting suspiciously?”
