Man rushed to hospital after being hit by hearth engine

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being hit by a fire engine in North London. Police closed the roads within the space whereas they handled the scene of the accident.

Emergency providers had been known as to Upper Street, Islington, at round 7.40am at this time, and the injured man, who’s in his 40s, was taken to hospital.

A Met Police spokesperson says his situation just isn’t life-threatening.

The spokesperson added: “Police were called at approximately 07:40hrs on Monday, 29 May to reports of a fire engine in collision with a male pedestrian in Upper Street, N1.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene.”

There have been no arrests and enquiries into the circumstances continue.

MyLondon reports that anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD1563/29May.

Police began to reopen the roads at around 10.30am.

Drivers in the area may now experience another issue as Just Stop Oil protesters have been carrying out a slow walk along Upper Street. The protesters have now moved out of the road. 

A Met Police spokesperson said: “We proceed to watch Just Stop Oil protests throughout London and can be certain that these inflicting appreciable disruption to Londoners will likely be handled swiftly.”
