Met Office points pressing warning UK is about to be smashed by heavy rain

The Met Office has issued an alert on the Eleventh-hour warning that components of Britain are about to be hit with a deluge of heavy rain.

The ‘yellow’ climate warning for heavy rain was issued at 10.26pm on Monday night time (September 11) and comes into drive at 1am on Tuesday morning. The nationwide climate forecaster says the heavy rain may trigger flooding and disruption in locations.

The Environment Agency has additionally issued a ‘extreme’ flood warning and is urging individuals within the affected space to “act now”.

The Met Office says: “Outbreaks of rain are expected to become heavier and more persistent during the early hours of Tuesday, extending east across northeast Wales, the north Midlands, parts of northern England and Lincolnshire.

“20 to 30 mm rain is probably going fairly broadly inside round six hours, with maybe as a lot as 40 to 50 mm in a couple of locations. This is more likely to trigger some flooding and disruption in some places. The rain is more likely to flip extra showery throughout Tuesday afternoon.”

Meanwhile, late on Monday night, the Environment Agency (EA) issued a “extreme” flood warning in South Yorkshire. Urging people around Knoll Beck in Bolton Upon Dearne to “act now”, the EA said “flooding is predicted on this space”. It said “properties are vulnerable to flooding” around Manvers Way and Elsecar.

“Please take motion to guard your self and your property and monitor native climate and river situations,” urged EA. “Avoid contact with, strolling or driving by means of flood water. Consider activating any property flood safety merchandise you might have.”
