Officer in critical situation after being hit by practice whereas saving distressed man, Nottinghamshire Police say
A police officer is in a critical situation after being hit by a practice whereas saving a “distressed man” who was on the tracks.
Nottinghamshire Police mentioned they had been known as to a residential space in Balderton, close to Newark-on-Trent, over considerations for a person’s security simply earlier than 7pm on Thursday.
The officer was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham together with the person who was on the railway strains, whose accidents will not be considered life-threatening.
The British Transport Police are main an investigation into what occurred.

Chief Constable Kate Meynell mentioned: “This is a truly devastating incident that has left one of our officers very poorly in hospital. We are supporting his family and ensuring that he gets all the care and support he needs.
“This was additionally extraordinarily traumatic for all those that attended the scene, a few of whom supplied rapid medical help whereas the ambulance was on its method.
“I would like to personally thank them for their quick and dedicated response to this incident.
“Officers and police workers put themselves in peril day-after-day to maintain the general public protected and from hurt and I personally need to say how eternally grateful and proud I’m of all of them.”
Newark MP Robert Jenrick shared “thoughts and prayers” for the injured officer in posts on X, previously generally known as Twitter.
“Terrible incidents such as this remind us of the bravery of those serving in @nottspolice and police forces across the country,” he wrote.
“Risking your life to try to save someone else is the epitome of public service.”
