Over a decade in the past, Warren Farm was deserted - what was a sports activities centre fell into disrepair and shortly, nature took over.
Now, it's residence to 1 / 4 of London's skylarks, in addition to kestrels, owls, linnets, gradual worms, and crops which are on the UK's extinction listing.
Amateur photographer Julian Oliver spends his time on the rewilded land, snapping wildlife. He lately discovered a sort of working crab spider, or thanatus striatus, which was a brand new addition to the reserve's recognized ecosystem.
He mentioned: "I'm here so often, recording what I find for the nature reserve. I go around finding as many insects and spiders as I possibly can, photograph them and then have a go at identifying them. And every now and again, something turns up that you know shouldn't be here or is a rarity and that makes it really exciting."
Now, the council is in a battle with native campaigners who need the land preserved.
The council needs it again, to construct a brand new neighborhood sports activities centre for the folks of Southall. The native campaigners need the land preserved as a nature reserve, to guard the fragile ecosystem that has sprung up.
Councillor Peter Mason is the chief of Ealing Council and mentioned: "What we're trying to do is provide sports facilities that are incredibly important to young people in Southall and Hanwell and beyond.
"This is a neighborhood with the best ranges of hypertension, diabetes and coronary heart illness, a number of the lowest ranges of bodily exercise. And we wish to guarantee that the youngsters of Southall have gotten locations to position cricket and sport sooner or later."
After years of battle, the council has give you a reasonably controversial compromise. They will take a part of the rewilded website again for sports activities pitches and buildings and designate the remainder as a nature reserve.
Campaigner Katie Boyles says this isn't an choice: "We're not against sports by any stretch. Sports are really important, but what we are saying is you can't destroy valuable habitats like [Warren Farm].
"You can't 'dewild' over half of the location as a result of that may in the end destroy the entire of the location. That's not a compromise. We suppose that isn't a win-win, as they prefer to name it. It's truly a lose-lose."
This rewilded land is a part of a rising stress.
The authorities has pledged to guard 30% of the land by 2030 in a bid to spice up the UK's biodiversity and also will have to assist new buildings like houses and neighborhood areas. But development and biodiversity not often go hand in hand.

He mentioned: "It's clear that construction has got a negative impact on the environment, there's no doubt about that. But construction and biodiversity can coexist, because we can construct green roofs, green walls, we can create green spaces within these construction activities.
"We have to plan fastidiously to guarantee that we are able to scale back the destructive influence of the development actions on biodiversity or on the atmosphere generally."
As the UK tries to construct again its wildlife, development tasks like this might want to learn to coexist with nature.
