Alastair Campbell has been pressured to difficulty a correction on his politics podcast after being fact-checked by Fiona Bruce.

The former spin physician corrected himself on his podcast, The Rest is Politics.

In the earlier episode, Mr Campbell claimed that Nigel Farage had appeared on BBC Question Time "more than any other human being", claiming this confirmed how "populists have gotten a grip of the BBC".

But he obtained an e-mail from Ms Bruce, the host of BBC Question Time, informing him that his assertion is "well worn but inaccurate and untrue".

Explaining the state of affairs to his listeners, Mr Campbell stated: "As you recognize after we get issues incorrect, in contrast to our nationwide newspapers, we right ourselves.

"And I received a really good e-mail from none aside from Fiona Bruce, Presenter of Question Time, who stated this can be a nicely worn, however inaccurate and unfaithful assertion.

"And she sent me the list."

Ms Bruce knowledgeable Mr Campbell that probably the most prolific member of the Question Time panel just isn't Nigel Farage however is in reality former Conservative MP Ken Clarke.

Mr Clarke has appeared on Question Time 59 occasions in whole.

Meanwhile, Mr Farage has appeared 35 occasions.

While he doesn't take the crown for many all-time appearances, Mr Farage has had probably the most appearances on Question Time this century.

Earlier this month, the previous UKIP politician threatened a political comeback, after admitting that Brexit has "failed".

He instructed BBC Newsnight: "What I do assume is that we haven’t really benefited from Brexit, economically, what we may have performed.

"What Brexit has proved, I’m afraid, is that our legislators are about as ineffective because the commissioners in Brussels had been.

"We have mismanaged this totally and if you look at simple things such as takeovers, such as corporation tax, we are driving business away from our country.

"Arguably, now we’re again in management we're regulating our personal companies much more than they had been as EU members. Brexit has failed."

But, asked whether "economically, the UK would have been higher off staying in (the EU)", the former MEP hit back: "I don’t assume that for a second."

Asked whether or not his evaluation of Brexit may imply "a comeback for you then", he said: "I wouldn’t rule it out."
