American Wyndham Clark shot a bogey-free day to go two strokes away from the pack after day three of the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte.

Clark completed the day with eight-under 63 to turn into the outright chief going into the final day of the match at Quail Hollow on 16-under with American Xander Schauffele two strokes behind.

If Clark holds on to the lead on the ultimate day, it is going to be the 29-year-old’s first ever PGA Tour win.

After ending day two tied in first place with Clark and Schauffele, England's Tyrrell Hatton continued his good kind however couldn't sustain with the highest two.

Hatton had six birdies and three bogeys to finish the day with 68 and tied in third with Australian Adam Scott who're each on 11-under, 5 strokes behind Clark.

Another English participant, Tommy Fleetwood, had a robust outing with 5 birdies and only one bogey, which got here on the final gap of the day.

He completed the day tied fifth with South Korean Sungjae Im and American Harris English on 10-under.

Rory McIlroy had one other inconsistent day in Charlotte and appears out of the operating for his fourth Wells Fargo Championship, ending the day tied in fiftieth place.

McIlroy hit 4 bogeys and 4 birdies and completed the day one-under.
