“I always found it funny when Roger Federer got these questions towards the end of his career of like, ‘Oh, when are you retiring?’ ‘He’s out of the top 10’. And we kind of forget that, what’s wrong with playing because you enjoy playing, because you love what you do? What’s wrong with that?”

Murray himself has already indicated that he believes he can keep pushing up the rankings at this stage in his career. The Brit just lately reached No 36 on this planet - his highest standing since 2018. And he just lately instructed the Guardian: “I’m at my highest ranking I’ve been since I had the operation on my hip. I’m really proud of that. I had that operation a really long time ago.

“It has taken lots and lots of hard work and effort to get back to the top 40 in the world and I still feel like before the year’s out that I can push that even higher. I don’t think that this is like the limit for me. I do think that I can get myself much higher.”
