Andy Murray hopes to make use of the momentum from his Surbiton Trophy success to enter the seeding for Wimbledon through the grass-court season. The 36-year-old began his Nottingham Open marketing campaign on Tuesday, two days after lifting his first grass title since 2016.

Murray tasted grass gold for the primary time since profitable Wimbledon seven years in the past by beating Jurij Rodionov 6-3 6-2 in Sunday's Surbiton Trophy last.

However, with three weeks to go till Wimbledon 2023 commences, Murray is eyeing a spot among the many seeded gamers in SW19.

He stated: "I've got a day off [tomorrow], but I'll come in and try to get a little bit more used to the conditions, the courts, and rest up in the afternoon.

"Hopefully, I can get able to push by way of to the weekend. That's my purpose right here.

"I want to get as deep as possible and try and get close to seeding for Wimbledon. That's my goal for the next few weeks, so hopefully, I can get a bit closer this week."

Murray suffered an early exit finally 12 months's Wimbledon, shedding 4-6 6-7(4) 7-6(3) 4-6 towards Twenty fourth-seeded American John Isner within the second spherical.

But he has made his aspirations of reaching the second week of this 12 months's competitors clear as he hits his stride on the grass.

"I'd say these courts are more similar to how Wimbledon plays in the second week, so hopefully, I'm in the second week," Murray defined.

"But the main thing for me is to obviously get as many matches as possible, playing in different conditions against different styles of opponent.

"He [De Loore] was a very huge server and actually went after his groundstrokes at present, so it made it robust for me, however I managed to get by way of."

Murray will face France's Hugo Grenier within the subsequent spherical of the Nottingham Open after his 6-4 6-4 win towards Brit Jan Choinski.
