The shooter was roaming across the web site within the metropolis centre, based on the New Zealand Herald.
Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown reportedly stated the gunman was useless.
Police had been patrolling the world and residents urged to stay indoors in the course of the incident on Wednesday night (UK time).
There had been scenes of mayhem as bloodied victims got emergency first help on the scene.
Patients had been being rushed into ambulances as paramedics battled to save lots of lives.
The St John ambulance initially stated six had been injured, three of them severely.
