An icebreaker is en route from Australia to an Antarctic analysis station to rescue an expedition member who's experiencing a medical situation, based on the Australian authorities.

The expeditioner is situated at Casey Research Station, on an ice cap roughly 2,125 miles (3,420km) south of the Australian Antarctic Division headquarters in Hobart, Tasmania.

The authorities company has not disclosed the identification of the person or supplied particulars about their medical situation.

"The expeditioner requires specialist medical assessment and care in Australia for a developing medical condition," the division stated in a press release.
