Birmingham City Council has successfully declared chapter after being hit with a £760m invoice to settle equal pay claims.

The council stated it had issued a piece 114 discover, confirming that every one new spending, except defending susceptible folks and statutory providers, should cease instantly.

In an announcement, the council stated it's going to "tighten the spend controls already in place and put them in the hands of the Section 151 officer to ensure there is complete grip".

Its senior officers and members are "committed to dealing with the financial situation", the council stated, including: "When more information is available it will be shared."
