Boris Johnson dashed Rejoiner hopes as he insisted Britain will "never" return to the European Union.

The former prime minister, who was a key determine within the Brexit marketing campaign, celebrated the UK's new deal to participate within the bloc's Horizon science programme.

But he rejected claims by Brexit critics that it's the "beginning of the end" for Brexit and Britain "will be back on bended knee".

Writing in his Daily Mail column, Mr Johnson mentioned: "Well, I am here to tell you... that it isn’t going to happen. Ever."

He warned that turning into a member of the 27-member bloc once more would imply ditching the pound for the euro.
