But defence minister Andrew Murrison refused to simply accept that heads wanted to roll for the failures in lodging.

Instead he insisted that Defence Secretary Ben Wallace had acted rapidly on the problem.

Mr Murrison stated: "I am grateful to my right honourable friend for his comments.

"The necessary factor is that when my honourable Friend the Minister of State received to learn about this, he acted instantly to place the matter proper.

"I am not really interested in getting people’s scalps; I am interested in putting the matter right, and that is exactly what is happening."

The reply although did not fulfill Mr Francois who was livid after the exchanges.

He advised Express.co.uk that the scenario with navy lodging is now insupportable.

He stated: "In the latest Armed Forces Continuous Attitude Survey, published on 1 June 2023, only 19 percent of service personnel - less than one in five - were satisfied with the maintenance of their service accommodation.

"Now, even worse, we hear that the protection of their family members might have been compromised too.

"This behaviour, which might merely not be tolerated from any industrial landlord, has gone on lengthy sufficient and it's about time the chronically falling Defence Infrastructure Organisation - and the extremely paid official who heads it up - had been lastly held to account.”
