An 11-year-old woman from a British household has been shot lifeless after a reported "dispute between neighbours" in a quiet village in Brittany, France.

According to French media a "revolver-type weapon" was used within the killing which happend round 9pm on Saturday night in Saint-Herbot, a village close to Quimper in Brittany

Le Telegramme reported gunshots broke out within the backyard of a non-public property 50 metres from the church within the centre of the hamlet. The dad and mom of the woman have been named by French media as Adrien and Rachel Thornon.

A person, who didn't want to be named, instructed Le Telegramme the 2 youngsters of the household had been "playing on a swing' before the shooting unfolded. He told the publication: "The two little ladies have been taking part in close to the video games and on the swing, the dad and mom have been sitting on their ordinary bench and having a barbecue”

The BBC experiences the woman's dad and mom have been injured, and her eight-year-old sister was in "shock". The Foreign Office stated it was offering help to the household.

Local experiences recommend the suspect, who has been reported to be a Dutch nationwide, and his spouse have been arrested. Prosecutor Carine Halley stated the explanations behind the tragedy have been unknown but it surely seemed to be a battle between neighbours over a "plot of land adjoining two properties".

Marguerite Bleuzen, the mayor of Plonévez-du-Faou commune, stated: "We knew the family well. There is a village fête every year and they always came. It is incomprehensible to have shot a child. No one can understand how that could have happened."
