ix individuals have died after a small aircraft crashed in a mountainous space west of Calgary.
The aircraft was carrying 5 passengers and a pilot when it crashed in Kananaskis Country on Saturday night.
The flight had left Springbank Airport close to Calgary on Friday night time en path to Salmon Arm, British Columbia.
Police officer Sgt. Ryan Singleton stated contact was misplaced with the aircraft round 9.30pm native time (3.30am GMT).
Shortly after the aircraft was reported overdue, a search was performed by a Royal Canadian Air Force squadron primarily based in Winnipeg.
The squadron discovered the crash web site, and with assist from Alberta Parks Mountain Rescue, looked for survivors. However, all six individuals within the aircraft had died, Singleton stated.
The RCMP didn't launch the names of the victims.
“Recovering the bodies of the pilot and the passengers was very challenging due to the difficult terrain,” Mr Singleton stated.
“However, all six bodies have been successfully recovered.”
The Transport Safety Board of Canada is now conducting an investigation into the crash.
