Justin Trudeau and his spouse Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau have introduced they're separating after 18 years of marriage.

The Canadian prime minister, 51, stated in an Instagram publish that the choice was made after "many meaningful and difficult conversations".

Mr Trudeau and the 48-year-old former mannequin and TV host married in late May 2005 and have three youngsters - Xavier, 15, Ella-Grace, 14, and nine-year-old Hadrien.

He stated in an announcement: "Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate.

"As all the time, we stay an in depth household with deep love and respect for one another and for every little thing now we have constructed and proceed to construct."

Mr Trudeau's workplace stated the 2 had signed a authorized settlement.
