Casper Ruud left the Bastad crowd in stitches as he gave a sweary speech after shedding to Andrey Rublev. A former champion on the Nordea Open, the world No 4 misplaced 7-6(3) 6-0 as Rublev picked up his second title of the season and 14th total. While paying tribute to Rublev in his runner-up speech, Ruud mentioned the world No 7 wasn’t so respectful when he hit all of the *f**king traces”.

Fans in Sweden have been handled to a top-tier remaining on Sunday as the primary and second seeds confronted off. They contested a detailed opening set that was narrowly gained by Rublev earlier than the Russian ran away with it, failing to drop a sport within the second set.

Laughing, he continued: “Even though you hit all the f**king lines today, it was not so respectful to me, but it's okay.” But Ruud had some extra type phrases for Rublev, including: "It's at all times an excellent battle towards you. I bear in mind after I was younger, you have been a yr older, you have been at all times doing a bit higher than me, so I at all times seemed as much as you. It's at all times good to share the courtroom with you.”

And Rublev himself admitted that Ruud was appropriate, because the second seed was left in disbelief at what number of balls he managed to land. “Today, I hit all the possible lines, all the possible frames, and everything went inside [the lines],” the newly-crowned champion mentioned. “In the second set, sometimes I was thinking that I was closing my eyes and I was shooting, and still, the ball was going in.”

Discussing his victory, he added: “It is always great to win a title. At the end of the day, we have to lose almost every week, so this is one of two titles this year. It is a special feeling and the final was played in tough conditions, but I was lucky to have them.”
