A former college nurse plundered £77,000 from her susceptible 85-year-old mom in and splashed it on petrol, vet’s payments, meals out, procuring and holidays.

Rebecca Walton, stole the cash from Margaret Walton over two-and-a-half years and in a "grotesque breach of trust".

Walton, 56, residing at Leys Lane in Skipsea, admitted to committing two counts of theft in opposition to her aged mom. 

Her then-boyfriend, Duncan Lowe, aged 50 and hailing from Swallow Road in Driffield, confessed to buying legal property amounting to £33,763, which belonged to Walton's mom.

"Anyone could understand her brother's reaction. She is paying for her behaviour and is continuing to do so on a deeply personal level."

Judge Mark Bury mentioned: "You committed a grotesque breach of trust, stealing from your vulnerable mother when you had the trust of the courts because you were an enduring power of attorney.

"You used cash to your personal benefit, petrol in your automobile, vet's payments, meals out, procuring and holidays. This was grasping in your half and extremely offensive to members of your loved ones that you simply have been successfully stealing out of your aged and infirm mom.

Walton was jailed for 2 years and Lowe one 12 months.
