Daniil Medvedev has admitted to watching some US Open matches through 'pirate web sites' resulting from them not being proven on TV at his resort. The 27-year-old managed to ebook his place within the quarter-finals in New York by coming from a set all the way down to beat Alex de Minaur within the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Medvedev will renew his rivalry with compatriot Andrey Rublev in the US Open quarter-finals, with the latter having reached the last eight by beating Jack Draper in the previous round. The winner will go up against either Alexander Zverev or defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals, with Novak Djokovic likely to be awaiting them in the final.

The other quarter-final will see Ben Shelton face Frances Tiafoe for a place in the last four, with Medvedev set to keep a close eye on what will be the highest-profile clash between two American players in quite some time.

"Great guys, identical era, enjoying nice," he said. "Ben managed to win [against] Tommy [Paul], so he is there, the third one. It's going to be an ideal ambiance, an ideal match, at the very least one American within the semis. Let's see."
