Nadine Dorries has referred to as for a probe into the complaints in opposition to Phillip Schofield, claiming Holly Willoughby has "questions to answer".

She mentioned: "The fact that Phillip Schofield has made a rather grovelling apology to the Daily Mail in the form of an email, there seems to be this understanding that 'that's it now, everything will move on'. But it's not the case, I'm afraid, because what it actually does is open up more questions as to what happened.

"We know that there have been complaints lodged with ITV over an extended time period. What occurred to these complaints?

"I think the editor of the programme, Martin Frizell, has some questions to answer himself, and I'm afraid so does Holly Willoughby."

The former Culture Secretary additionally branded Phillip Schofield a "bully", accusing him of being "aggressive" on his ITV present.

She claimed he had a "bullying" perspective in direction of his co-host, claiming they appeared "terrified".

Speaking to Laura Kuenssberg's present on the BBC, Ms Dorries claimed: "I just found him to be quite bullying in his attitude towards the co-host who was standing in for Holly Willoughby. And that made me feel more uncomfortable than answering the questions.

"When the digital camera was on me and I used to be speaking, he began aggressively jabbing on the script along with his fingers so the pages had been rattling and the co-presenter appeared terrified."

Mr Schofield on Friday admitted to having an affair behind his wife's back with a young male co-worker.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, the former ITV Presenter claimed that while the affair was "unwise" it "wasn't unlawful".

He has decided to step away from his agency, YMU, and ITV.

This means the 61-year-old will no longer present the British Soap Awards, which will air next month, or Dancing on Ice, which will return early next year.

He said: "It is with essentially the most profound remorse that after 35 years of being faultlessly managed by YMU I've agreed to step down from their illustration with quick impact.”

While ITV initially accepted Phillip's apology, they've since issued a press release claiming they knew nothing concerning the affair.

The broadcaster mentioned it investigated rumours of an affair between Phillip and a younger male co-worker three years in the past, however mentioned the presenter lied to them, his co-stars, and his brokers on the time.

An ITV spokesperson mentioned: “Further to our statement last night, ITV can confirm that when rumours of a relationship between Phillip Schofield and an employee of ITV first began to circulate in early 2020 ITV investigated.

“Both parties were questioned and both categorically and repeatedly denied the rumours as did Phillip’s then agency YMU.

“In addition, ITV spoke to a number of people who worked on This Morning and were not provided with and did not find, any evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour.

“Phillip’s statement yesterday reveals that he lied to people at ITV, from senior management to fellow presenters, to YMU, to the media and to others over this relationship.”
