Drew Barrymore has been dropped as host of the National Book Awards ceremony within the US, after resuming filming of her speak present throughout the Hollywood writers' strike.

Barrymore has confronted criticism and been accused of "scabbing" on social media after asserting the choice, and putting writers picketed the recording of the primary present in New York on Monday.

"This choice is actively working in opposition to these you are claiming to help which implies you are both being wilfully ignorant otherwise you really do not care. Writer and actress Kirsten Vangsness wrote: "I'm sad about this choice. I hope you change your mind. You are lovely and this choice is not lovely."
