“I’m gonna be Suzy Eddie Izzard,” the 61-year-old introduced throughout a recording of The Political Party podcast in March.
Opening up about her determination to be identified by one other moniker, she stated: “I’ve wanted to be S, U, Z, Y since I was ten,” Izzard stated in a wide-ranging Q&A with comic Matt Forde. “That’s how I’m gonna roll so people can choose what they want, they can’t make a mistake, they can’t go wrong,” she stated, joking that “I make mistakes with my own pronouns.”
Now the mud has settled a bit, she has determined to make clear each her chosen identify and pronouns for these nonetheless confused.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, she wrote: “As people may now well know, I have added the name ‘Suzy’ to my names. So going forward I am preferring Suzy but I don’t mind Eddie. And I prefer she/her but I don’t mind he/him.
“So no one can really get it wrong unless they call me Kenneth or Sabrina,” she joked.
Adding: “I am remaining Eddie Izzard in public.”
Izzard, who's at the moment starring in an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations at The Garrick Theatre within the West End till July 1, signed off her messaging writing: “Thank you. Suzy/Eddie.”
